Billy’s Buddies is inspired by Billy Slater – former Melbourne Storm, Queensland and Australian Rugby League Superstar. We are a non-contact Ball Sports Program for kids 2 to 6 years old. The Program began in Brisbane in 2016 and has since grown to more than 280 locations across Greater Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.
Billy’s Buddies, written by experienced Coaches in conjunction with an Early Childhood Teacher and Exercise Sports Scientist, is not just about Rugby League – it’s about learning the fundamentals of all ball sports in a fun, safe and exciting environment.
No two weeks are the same! Each week we run theme-based Sessions which focus on developing children’s social skills all whilst at the same time, teaching them the fundamentals of not only Rugby League but ball sports in general. Like Billy, we want all of our children to become great team players and learn the importance of teamwork. It is our goal to empower all children who participate in our Program by assisting to develop their confidence, self-esteem, hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills.
We offer our Program across Childcare Centres as an extracurricular activity to complement their learning plan and also to children of the general public through our Park Session Programs.
We were recently awarded the Best National Preschooler Activity at the 2019 What’s On 4 Kids Awards and in 2018 were named Runner Up as the Best National Toddler Activity.
